The Role:  Director of Marketing 

The Director of Marketing will report directly to Srikrishnan Ganesan, CEO and Co-founder. This executive must thrive in high-growth environments and have actively contributed to building high-performance, early-stage teams. Having a player-coach management style for the team in India would be crucial to this role.

It is critical that this individual has been a part of scaling a rapidly growing business with multiple buyer/user personas, across modern, high-velocity SMB customer segments, and the mid-market segment globally (including USA, UK, India, Europe, ANZ markets). The role will require the individual to establish a performance-based culture while infusing an appropriate level of process and prioritization. 

This individual will have a strong appreciation for an outcome-oriented approach, be responsible for driving and delivering marketing goals uniquely suited to Rocketlane’s business and build a culture of high accountability, ownership, and performance in the team. This person must develop the best practices and metrics necessary to successfully scale the marketing org. 

The role shall involve leading and managing the marketing team to achieve business objectives. This includes setting goals and priorities, developing and implementing strategies, and providing tactical guidance to ensure the team's work aligns with our brand and demand generation goals. 


The leader will guide team members to help them achieve their individual and team goals and act as a career coach to assist them in reaching their career aspirations. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that align with business objectives, analyze data to make informed decisions, and ultimately be accountable for the team's performance.

The Director of Marketing will be a strong leader, with a penchant for growth and demand-generation activities.  This person shall be responsible for hiring, training, motivating, and leading the marketing organization.


Responsibilities of the Director of Marketing 

In this high-impact role, you'll get to

  • Build and own the 12- and 24-month strategic plan to meet inbound-driven ARR goals
  • Set goals and guide team on all aspects of product marketing, demand generation, content marketing, email marketing, social media, webinars, events, and other tactics to generate a high-quality pipeline 
  • Manage the marketing budget (across demand gen, events, tool etc.) to ensure maximum return on investment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to own and improve BOFU, SQL leads, customer acquisition costs
  • Analyze and report on marketing campaigns’ effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Accurately forecast monthly and quarterly pipeline goals for inbound and outbound sales engines separately
  • Develop and implement best practices to maximize pipeline creation, customer conversion rates, forecasting accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Act as a player-coach for the team size of 14+ individuals at the current stage and be responsible for hiring and development of the marketing organization 
  • Bring focused and prioritized feedback from the field to help shape strategy and business practices and collaborate with internal orgs including product, marketing, onboarding/support, and customer success functions to help Rocketlane scale.


Qualifications

  • 7-12 years of overall experience and 3+ years in SaaS marketing leadership roles 
  • Prior experience in scaling business ground-up from 1M to 20M+ with deal sizes ranging between $5K to 150K in global markets (with a strong-US focus)
  • Experience in having a data-driven approach, optimizing for the right parameters on the go, and having strong execution capabilities.
  • Proven expertise in owning market positioning, messaging, executing successful marketing campaigns
  • Prior experience in managing growth and demand gen initiatives with a product that delivers enterprise business value
  • Track record of building and scaling high-performance marketing teams and driving operational discipline in successful high-growth B2B SaaS startups 
  • A proven leader and motivator, willing to build, coach, and empower team members of diverse backgrounds and identities 
  • A proactive go-getter capable of getting hands dirty and going from idea to execution and pushing the organization to change
